I decided that the next part of my railway inspired modelling needed a larger building.
This is the front of what will hopefully become an engine house.
This will hold a large beam engine for pumping large volumes of water.

The basic shell is foam board covered with individual bricks laid in an English bond.
This has yet to have windows and other detail added.

The second picture shows the start of the beam engine.

Flywheel and beam, all from card.

I coat/soak the card in French Polish, it can then be sanded.

Thanks for the info about French polish - another skill to learn and put into action. It looks good at the moment will follow with interest

The original idea was to use the Airfix Beam engine, but I couldn't find one anywhere online.
I don't suppose anyone has one going cheap!

I really do like the brickwork Dave - excellent.

I there no end to your talents?

I think beam engines go "puff puff" slowly, not cheap.

A bit like you in your smoking days?
Adding the mortar wash accentuates the brickwork.

No, just a serial(cereal) modeller!

I will NOT go down the line of a "cereal killer"  - but that's what you do when we try and keep up with your speed or skills.

I need to eat my cereals faster to keep up.
Fruit and Fibre mainly.
More progress.

Wow, that is amazing.
All I got out of cereal packets was those little plastic gifts.
Respect for the master of cardboard building.

I did find the Airfix Beam Engine on line and bought it for £20.00 including postage - from Triang Man. He also had lots of stuff from my youth for sale, I wasn't too tempted but the memories of Triang railways and Minic Motorways flooded back.
