Decided to use this old base I made several years ago.  The ex-poly will give the hight for the knights at the back and enough room for all the standing figures at the front, plaster rocks added to the front of the poly and next job a bit of filler for the ground.

Rocks painted black and then grey highlights added

A brown wash on the soil - so if it shows through the grass, its not white plaster of Paris - yes i know the edges need a little more colour, on with it.
The last photo is the basic block colour added to the ogre  figure - a little more touching up on the edges and then on with the shading - BUT what is his name - hohohhoho

Position of the horse knights on the hill top - will I just glue them into place or cut out small holes for them to fit inside.  Yes you are correct, why do something the easy way when you can make lots of extra work for yourself - hohohhohoho

Well you were an engineer, or so we are led to beleive!
Grumpy by name and nature

MSea

YES 20 years solving problems with a hammer - hohhohoho
The rest of the holes cut for the foot soldiers, next job make more wood defensive posts and drill holes for them

Don't you just love 1/72 scale - all morning painting and little to show. Thats before I even go to quality control and repaint the bits that have been missed and don't get me started on the thousands of belts and straps that have to be painted - but heyho its all for FUN  >:( >:( >:( >:(

You think you have problems painting, wait until you try painting camoflague on 1/72 scale WW2 German troops, then you definitely get eyestrain!!!!

Colourful though Martin.
