I'm with Kev.  It's the back seat of some sort of tandem cockpit thing but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of MG mounting or even space for it so I'm discounting the Helldiver/Dauntless type aircraft.  I'll take a wild stab at a Fairey Firefly because it's quite a lengthy space and look like it should have a flat topped canopy with no armament.

Good point Wizzel.

I'm definitely ruling out the American stuff now as they tended towards one long cockpit area and generally were bigger aircraft with a bit more space.  This is a typically cramped British looking aircraft and in the absence of any other inspiration - or black belt cockpit knowledge - I'll stick with a Firefly, at least for the moment.  It's that hint of a flat topped greenhouse that does it for me with the front and rear fairings on the rear section.

It was from the tops of the bulkheads at each end of the navigator/radio station.  They are in line with each other and whilst I appreciate it could be domed, I can't think of an aircraft that has one, not now I have that blasted Firefly in my head!!!

Hi Wizzel,

Yes, I agree with you somewhat, however that cheeky Kiteman has painted his interior in an American interior Green colour.
Now this might be a ruse, or a deliberate mistake, but for me I'm gonna punt for an American aircraft, but which one.

On right the lines Kiteman old son?

goodness, I wouldn't have known what nationality green that was!  Even so I'm going to say NOT American just because of the tight space afforded the crew.  I have it in my head (rightly or not) Yanks were a bit more generous with size but having said that, you do know your stuff but I'm following my gut feeling here.

I am still not saying what it is (or isn`t for that matter), however don`t be drawn in by the colour....I havent got a clue what the correct shades where for any aircraft after WW1. I just use what I have and what I think looks ok. The colour maybe American (thanks Kev), the Cockpit may be a bit cramped (typically British) but have you seen the Polish Cockpits????? That is not a clue....just a thought. I will post some Progress later on today and will wait patiently until one of you says-------it is a .........

So here are some more pictures and a little more progress to tantalise you. More filling required on the poor fitting fuselage halves. I do like the resin exhausts. Can you guess what it is yet?

Don't think its a Stuka, it has wheel wells...........................

Looking at Wheel hubs they look British, possibly Spitfire...ish, or like of Hurricane.....ish.

However that cockpit shot, is too small, could it be something like a Sea Hornet (two cockpits, etc.) though the wheel well don't match that variant as far as I can tell.

What about a Fairey Fulmar, Kitey??
