Shame all that intricate work is hidden mainly from view. At least you know its there, as anybody following your 1/700 ships topic.
As to ugly, I think it looks stately and a good insight into the early aircraft carriers.
Great work.
I hope my next is always better

Thanks Kevin.
The decals for the aircraft came with no instructions, so I dipped them in water and here is the result, One sheet of clear like plastic, if only it had said cut them up first! Even then, they may be a bit thick.

A full decal film rather than individual decals I suspect.
I normally cut them apart using a single side razor blade on a cutting mat. Then apply them singly.

Excellent idea, they are super small, so I used a punch and die for the roundels of the right size.

The time has come to finish this off, add some sea and so on, nearly there,
In conclusion (nearly) maybe this type of kit is a step too far for me!!!!!
Stick to plastic and brass.

While the sea dries it is on with another IBG kit, this time an I class Destroyer HMS Ilex.
I did buy HMS Legion by FlyHawk, but sprue P is missing, this contains the boats and torpedo tubes, I am waiting to see if I can get one. So that will be on hold for the moment.

Lovely work Dave. Nice to see the aircraft on deck and one about to land.
This model has really tested you, but the result is impressive, so a big thumbs up from me.

I agree with Kevin, well done. I hope the IBG kit isn't like their vehicle kits where it's 20 parts when one would do.
Re Wool Olive Drab, I wonder if it's short for Woolwich Olive Drab and trying to refer to either Nivo or PC10? I'm not sure about the paint dates though.

zak

I just went with a PC 10 sort of colour.
Here it is finished, well as far as I am prepared to go at any rate.

I have 3 destroyers in the paint shop and meanwhile in the shipyard............

I am revisiting the Hikawamaru,  Hasegawa kit, given to me by fellow member of the club, John Cook. I will build it as a submarine depot ship this time, and before you ask, yes, I have some submarines on order.
Having looked on "Scalemates", it seems it was just the same kit as the liner and Hospital ship.

Once again, Thanks John!!!!!

John had removed most of the parts from the sprues.
Progress so far.
