Back from holiday and took some bits and bobs from the Alanger model to do.
Its is a very old kit and is not up to the modern Russian ships such as the Zvezda Sevastopol.
Working on the masts and the bridge deck. The photo show that the bridge deck sides are about 1.5mm wide which would be about 600mm in real life NOT the 20mm it should be. So removed and then replaced with brass shim.

Ejector pin marks filled on the main decks.
The 4 boat davits are very easy to pick up on all photos of the ship, So the model ones are just a simple bit of plastic with NO lightening holes so new ones are being fabricated.

The bridge is just a lump of plastic with no portholes, doors or markings.
Replaced by making a brass wall with the slot cut for the portholes and brass strip added to make the correct size. Doors cut as well with porthole in them, some bits and bobs added to the inside.

Thank you Zak - but it gets worse - it will be 2 models the ship at the front in 1/350 scale and the massacre on the Richelieu Steps behind it in 1/72 scale.  They will be done on 2 different bases and put into one surround if they look OK - if not will be displayed as 2 seperate models -- we shall see how it goes !!!!!!!

Hull fastened together and then cut down to waterline. The last photo is a trial with the 3 decks added.

Ford and aft deck fitted and the main deck then added. As you can see it had to be clamped hard as the sides splayed out quiet a lot. On top of that, the deck was bent and bowed and had to be forced down.
After it was all in place, you can see from the last photo, the aft deck and bulkhead did not meet - so the solid rail will have to be removed and the deck section enlarged to fit the bottom section and then new rails made.
The FUN of modelling with old kits !!!!!!!

A bodge job on the aft deck - hope it looks OK after final clean up and a coat of paint.

Start made on changing the 2 sets of figures from 1945 Soviet Militia and 1870-71Prussian Infantry, into Russian Peasants and Russian Guards Soldiers from 1905.

Thanks Kiteman - its just having fun for me.
The three funnels now made from 3 sections of brass tube.
The massacre on the steps will need LOTS of dead so a start on changing the Prussians into Russians.
