No doubt you will recall me extolling (yawn) the decals for my Mig-21 model of #5531 (HuAF) as shown below. Now I have acquired three new Mig-21 decal sheets produced by HadModels that will allow you to model almost any '21 of the Hungrian Air Force and a fair few countries besides! A completely new sheet (72144 and 48144) these are printed to the highest standard I've seen and being available in 1/72 and 1/48 scale, their potential is tremendous. I've had a look at those for my previous subjects and the difference in quality is quickly apparent!
Aircraft #5531 was the final operational flight by a HuAF Mig-21 and flown by Col. Jozef Lanecker on 21st August 2000. Lanecker tragically lost his life in a crash on 13th November 2003 and nicely, HAD Models have commemorated this new issue sheet to his memory. I know many of us enjoy modelling the venerable Mig-21 and this has to be one of the best sheets available in either scale. There are two other sheets available in both 1/72 and 1/48 - No's 145 and 146 and these include a full spread of Mig-21's including some UM's... I'll discuss these later but meantime, I can't wait to get started!
