Funny that the hairspray method has just been mentioned. I'm just about to try it on this little beast. I'm hoping to represent chips, rust and grime with hairspray and washes although I'm using an AK Interactive product that I've used before. If it works, I'll post some pics and describe how I did it, if it don't, I've got a new tin of Mr Muscle!!

All this talk of hairspray and salt makes me think that we have a fetish thing going on at the mo...

            Well I've tried the hairspray method and although it works I wasn't happy with the result, it looked too "in yer face " for my liking, maybe I used too dark a base colour or it could be just a question of scale, at 1:350, 1mm is about 14 inches so the chips need to be small, almost to the point where you can't see 'em.
            I've settled for " dirty " including the wooden decks. It's difficult to know when to stop, when you can see it clearly, it looks too much. At least with the enamel washes, you can get rid of almost all of it with white spirit.Things seem to look better when you go away and come back in an hour, you seem to get a better idea of what it really looks like,and I can keep adding bits over time till I'm happy with the result.
         If anybody would like to try this stuff, just sing out, your quite welcome.

Looking good Tony, I have often found that with effects and paint jobs it is always better to go away for a while, look at something else that has nowt to do with modelling (perhaps the wife) and then come back, things look different them. Often, if I am not sure I take a photo and look at it that way, things do look different on photos and one gets a fresh perspective.
