RUSSIAN PRE-DREADNOUGHT TSESAREVICH 1917

     Got this at Huddersfield, the chap knocked me 10% off without asking, must have thought I looked poverty stricken!

    It's similar to the Prince Suvarov but on closer inspection, different enough to make me want to build it. I do like these pre-dreadnoughts but there aren't many kits around in plastic in 1:350 scale that you can get your hands on. It's a nice size to handle so may be easier than QE although there's lots of brass in the kit and plenty of rigging to go at. Might be the next project. It could lend its self to making it look a bit rusty and battered.

Bit more info. The first picture shows her more or less as built, the second is much later with guns removed and a lot of "top hamper" removed, more like in 1917.

              Probably, but that's what's in the box. Should I want to do the earlier version, decent images are few and far between. I'd probably have to buy a book which could end up costing more than the kit.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

           Feeling I could do with a break from Queen Elizabeth, I thought I'd open the box and have a look at the parts. Fatal mistake as you can see. Nothing is glued except the two gun emplacements and the planking plates for the three inch gun embrasures, these were removed early in her career as they were virtually useless. Note the tumble-home, very pronounced.
           The detail on the hull is amazing, I'll need to be very careful not to lose it during the build. It should build into a very rigid structure, although what it will be like when "water-lined" I'm not sure. I'll have to put some stiffeners in as the two frames that give it strength attach well below the water-line so the bottom half will be removed.
            All in all, it looks very promising although there's oodles of brass.I just hope it fits.
