Airfix 1/48 scale kits
« on: January 28, 2014, 01:29:52 PM »
Club members will already know that I have built the Land Rovers, the Jackal and Coyotes as well as the soldiers.
I am at present working on the Warrior and it looks like an excellent kit.
I have almost completed the Quad bikes and again I must congratulate Airfix, these are pretty good kits.
I have retro fitted the drivers etc. to the Jackal.
I will try to upload some photos once they are completed.

Are you going to use the etched accessory set on this vehicle? The kit plastic bits look very heavy to me.

Cropper has not got the etched sets, so guess I will have to stick with the kit parts.

Hi Zak,

just had a thought about your answer to Meremodeller, was that an intentional pun?

Stick with the kits plastic parts....................................!

Here is the Warrior - no etched brass was harmed during the building of this kit.
Another excellent offering from Airfix, well done.
Built out of the box and finished with Vallejo paints, a coat of clear, transfers, weathered very slightly and a coat of matt varnish.

More photos, never sure how many can be uploaded at once, don't want to overload the system.
I did drill out the gun barrel!

Hey! I`ve just found this and am aware that it is an old post but just wanted to nice nice work. I spent years looking after these beasts when I was in the army and was with an Armoured Infantry (Warrior) Battalion in the Gulf War. (Ist Bn Royal Scots) so I know these beasts inside out...literally. Once again, well done.

Thanks, the Airfix one is really nice, you can get etched brass add on to replace the bar armour.

Don't forget those 1/48 Airfix kits reduced at Beverley Garden Centre if they interest you.

I know I looked at them yesterday, bit of a tempter, especially for the helicopter.
I did manage to resist though.
