Hi All,
Next up on the Jet Provost theme/line up.
This time a Jet Provost T.5 which will be finished in the normal Red/White and Light Grey colour scheme. This will be built from the Fly Models BAC 167 Strikemaster/Jet Provost T.5/5A kit, and will use some Xtradecal Jet Provost decals.
Kit is moulded in Dark grey with both Resin and Etch parts.
Some pictures of the kit and its contents follow.
Thanks for looking,
Kevin

You're going to have a whole squadron soon Kevin. Looking forward to the finished model.

Hi All,
Well I've made a start on this, removing the main parts from the sprue tree's and cleaning up any tabs and flash. This is a short run kit so I expected some work.
The cockpit floor back assembled and some supports for the floor and back added to the fuselage insides, but something looked wrong. The fuselage looked a bit too pointy to my eye, so I got some scale plans and enlarged them to 1/48th and my suspicions were realized. The fuselage is under nourished when laid on top of the plan, mainly on the undersides. The length of the fuselage is too long by about 3mm  forward of the cockpit, so some serious reprofiling will be needed there. The rear fuselage depth is slightly out too, but I think could be remedied with some plasticard skinning here. The Fin and rudder are also wrong, tapering too much at the front and rear, but again I think with some plasticard shim to correct shape filler can be added to build up the correct profile.
From above the fuselage is too slim from around the cockpit rear going forward.
To deal with these areas, I intend to add a plasticard insert between the two halves to widen the fuselage and to give correct depth. Then, I will add plasticard 'ribs' to make the contours needed. Then to fill with Milliput and a happy sanding session to look forward too.
Some pictures of the above problem areas:-
Thanks for looking.

Some fine work required there Kevin.

Most definitely!
I'll probably have something else on the go during the build to stop me going insane......
Will keep you posted how things are going.

Looks like a lot of extra work for you.

Oh, for the days when a model could be built out of the box and we were happy with it in our innocence that the kit manufacturer had got it right!

Maybe we know too much nowadays and want to correct all the faults.

Good lick.
Grumpy by name and nature

NO you are wrong Zak - its bang it together or scratch build and just ENJOY THE FUN  of making it- don't be bothered about the end product as long as you are HAPPY with it and don't get me started on rivet counters ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
BUT everybody is different so do what and how THEY like
