Revell Type VIIc/41 1/350

Hi All,
This is my current project.
A Revell Type VIIC/41 in 1/350.
The submarine was an improved version of the Type VIIc, with the provision for a 'Snorkel' to draw air into the submarine to allow it to recharge its batteries whilst remaining submerged.
Also around its time of introduction, the change of tactic's was to stay up on the surface if caught on the surface, hence German submarines were up gunned to provide extra anti aircraft protection.
The tactic was quite successful and many aircraft were either damaged or shot down during attacks, only superiority in allied numbers/resources degraded the tactic.

Anyway, I have got so far with the build, and have started to add the Eduard etch brass for this kit, and I am happy with the progress so far.
But it is a time consuming progress, as Haddock will agree with his ship models.

The 37mm gun was eye numbing, and you needed four hands to do it.
I'm going to attach the conning tower railings next, then paint job of this and hull, finally adding last railings and all guns periscopes, etc.
Well that's the plan at this moment....

Hi All,
Thankyou for all your comments.
I've made a little more headway with this kit.
Managed to attach the conning tower railings and get some ID yellow airbrushed on.
Noticed that there was a seam on the upper conning tower that needed attention, this was filled with 'Greenstuff' and then some Mr.Surfacer 500, then sanded back. Now sorted.

Yes, this was a late German project to save the use of valuable metals.

The use of light weight materials was designed to give the German Submarine fleet over its rivals, however as can be seen, the idea of streamlined designs had not quite caught on at that time....

I think this version of the Type VII was designed for fighting it out on the surface against air attack.

Hi All,
Been a while since last posting.
I have now managed to get most of the painting done, and weathered the sub.
Moving on will be any detail painting, final etch brass items, the aerials, periscopes', breathing apparatus, and weapons.
Model is shown in its glossy varnish, so will be toned down once all items in place.
