Only half a flash back in your case!

When I first built my spray booth I used a 4" bathroom extractor fan, it was ok but I felt it wasn't pulling enough  so I incorporated the cooker hood for extraction. With a three speed setting it is more than adequate and the spray mist can actually be seen to disappear!!  To be on the safe side I use a good quality face mask as well because paint fumes and sanding dust can be very harmful.

I also use a face mask, shades of Darth Vader.
Grumpy by name and nature

I keep my mouth closed and put a peg on my nose!

Blooming heck Haddock, you must be able to hold your breath, better than those free divers!
No wonder you model in a small scale.

Ha, my spray booth consists of a carefully folded bit of newspaper and me inviting DCOS in to talk at me thus ensuring a constant stream of hot air to drive the fumes out of the room!
