Some years back I built the AZ Models release of the P.60C-1 which featured the round nose and the engines mounted above and below the rear fuselage, this is their lastest release being the C-6 featuring an extended nose to accomodate the radar dish for the 'Morgenstern' (Morning star) radar and having both engines on top of the rear fuselage. Interestingly the parts for a C-1 are included and mention is made in the instructions. As usual with short run kits there is some cleaning up of the parts on the two sprues included, there also being one clear and decals for three versions, one of which is a post-war Czech a/c. A start has been made on painting the cockpit area the seats of which feature molded on harnesses which can be removed and replaced with decals if you wish, but I've kept them.

Indeed. The cockpit tub has been built up with parts painted RLM 02 and 66 with details picked out in silver, red and yellow. Radar lenses were first painted silver followed by Tamiya Clear Green. As with all short run kits it was a case of dry fitting before committing to glue, with some sanding and adjustment needed. The same applied to the jet engines which have been built as were the main undercarriage wheels. Suprisingly these have flatspots as if under load. At one point I thought I'd have to do a repair to the rear seat as it had what looked like a fault in it but when put to the rear bulkhead the notch fit under the headrest. This, along with other thigs, is not shown in the instructions.

Some nice work in the cockpit Chris.
This one will look 'futuristic' on the table.
Looking good.

The cockpit tub and nose wheel bay had to be sanded to allow the upper and lower sections to be fixed together, with weight being placed behind the cockpit. I aligned the nose sections and the rear fuselage but this meant that there was a lip on the wings. Self inflicted wound? So it was out with Mr Surfacer 500. When I came to fit the nose section I found that it was about 1/2 millimetre out all around so I sourced something from spares and have started to sand this into shape.

As Kevin says - very futuristic. Great work Chris.

With the engines and tailpanes fitted along with the undercarriage and canopy, after creating a gunsight, it was time for primer followed by Vallejo RLM 78 Hellblau on the undersurfaces and areas on the upper. The latter were then masked off along with portions of the underside and Vallejo RLM 62 Grun was applied followed, once dry and masked, by Xtracolour RLM 61 Dunkelbraunand areas of RLM 22 Schwarz. Two coats of Klear were then applied ready for the decals some of which are kit and some from stock due to some breaking up followed by satin varnish and Revell weathering powder  Black around the cannon ports. The wheels and pitot were fitted along with the R4M Okran missiles on the wings. I had initially intended to fit two W.Gr 21 and their launch tubes as well but decided they would go against the clean lines of the aircraft.
