Just superb modelling and engineering combined!
I hope my next is always better

Back on this one after a number diversionary aircraft models. While you haven't been watching I've started on the differential and gearbox case and ancillary drive. Here you see the case being offered up to to the clutch housing and deep joy, it fits.

Absolutely sublime Francis. A true work of art.

Today has been all about building the drive train starting with the brake discs. Got one done so only another three to do.

Its just like being in a miniature garage, they look so fantastic.

It's been a slow evening today as I've had to debond the sides of the differential case and skim the faces to loose 0.8mm. This came about when I did a check fit of a suspension link that will fit onto brackets that are part of the differential sides and found the bolt centres didn't align, very annoying.

Any way we're back on track and I'm relatively happy a test fit of the left side brakes and half shaft.

Great work as ever Francis. A friend of mine visited recently and he builds cars but lamented the fact that once built all you see is the bodywork and decals with none of the internals visible!!

I agree, on modern Formula and saloon cars much detail is concealed so it comes down to a modellers preference and the degree to which suffers with IKIT syndrome. I will own up to a mild affliction of IKIT on this one in regard to the engine internals, but I'm over it now. Fortunately on F1 car of this period most of the detail is still visible. Limited engine covers and quite open cockpits.

Great work Francis - it still looks a lot cleaner than the engines I worked on and my pistons were a meter wide just a tad larger than the one you are making yoho yoho
