On the modelling day (Playday - just for Martin), I built the cranes for the dockyard and a couple of 1:700 Tamiya U boats.
Now it is onto the SAAR as portrayed by the resin and etched brass kit from Samek, no.S700/0022.
The instructions are in German, but I did find a translation on line.
Here it is

This is a resin kit with photo-etch parts.
Instruction translation (original ones are/were in German)
The reconstruction of a U-boat force, which had been secretly envisaged since the beginning of the 1930s (planned in the course of the "Reconstruction Plan of the Reichsmarine" of 15 November 1932), gave the early impetus for the procurement of a first U-boat escort ship in order to make the U-boats to be looked after independent of the base and to expand their operating areas. Soon after Hitler's accession to power, such a ship, designated "Fleet Tender A", was included in the 1933 budget. In the same year, the construction contract was awarded to the Krupp Germania shipyard in Kiel, where the keel was laid on 19 September 1933. The launch was completed on April 5, 1934, and the ship was given the name SAAR. The commissioning took place on 1 October. After being released from the probationary relationship (26 November 1934), it was initially placed under the control of the U-boat Defense School, which used it for navigation instruction cruises and as a target ship for the first U-boats. In 1935 it joined the 1st U-boat Flotilla ("Weddigen"), from October 1937 to July 1940 it was assigned to the 2nd Flotilla. During the war, she became an adjunct in various U-boat flotillas and finally the bargeship of the Führer der U-Boote Ost.
After the end of the war, it fell to the USA, which took it over on 1 September 1947 in Bremerhaven. In October 1947, the Americans gave the ship to France, where it was given the name GUSTAV ZÉDÉ and was initially used as the lead ship of a U-Jagd group deployed in the Mediterranean. Most recently, it served as the lead ship of the fleet's training unit. On December 15, 1970, it was decommissioned for reasons of age. It sank on 26 February 1976 as a target ship by torpedo hits by the submarine DORIS. The SAAR could accommodate and supply up to 253 U-boat personnel. The ship took its name from the river of the same name.

You get an exploded view and some poor photos and a plan.

Fearless has been decaled and given a pin wash, after a coat of varnish.
