Started this one a wee while ago so the initial posts are a catch up. The A7V Tauro kit looked to be an Everest sized challenge and far to daunting so when the superb Meng kit appeared this project kicked off.

The chassis with running gear, gunnery stations and commander/drivers cupola platform added. The void under the commanders platform housed a pair of 100 hp Daimler engines. Meng offer two options of the kit, one with engines and the other without. As there's absolutely no chance of seeing the engines in the finished model I opted for the cheaper sans engine kit.

Hi Francis,
That looks like one heck of a fighting machine.
Nice to see this one back on the bench.

I hope my next is always better

Kev, it may look like one heck of a fighting machine however in reality its performance was less than impressive. In fact the deployment of just about any of the twenty A7Vs that were made could be the basis of a comic opera.

Now back to the model. Sides fitted and initial camouflage mapped out. The interior as finished as it is going to be given the limited glimpses that will be possible when the roof goes on.

Test fitting of the roof to transfer the camouflage pattern from the sides. The camouflage on the roof needs to be sprayed before gluing it in place as the open grills mean paint would bleed through into the interior. I've also made a start on the commander/drivers cupola which sits on top of the roof.

Looks good. Pity about all the detail inside.

Coming together great Francis, I particularly like the paintwork.

Bob C

It's looking really nice.

The fighting compartment roof grills fitted along with the Commander and drivers cupola. The shutters to the vision ports in the cupola have been the most difficult element of the build so far and took two evenings to fit.

Looks like all the effort is worth it, nice looking beast!
Will it be on a diorama, as in the photo, as a command post?
