Is there no end to this innuendo?
Leaf it alone, enough, you've got me at it now.

Perhaps we should log off, we could get board!

Perhaps we should stop now before anyone else twigs on.

Haddock

Seems a shame to give up now. If anyone else joins in, they will probably be barking up the wrong tree!

zak

What is the root of the problem then?
Something will transpire.

All these puns are giving me a pain in the lumber region

Didn't think an innocent comment would sprout into a forest of posts.

This looks really horrible at the moment, hopefully, it should look better with patience, good luck and more applications of Mod Podge and paint.

There`s more foam than in my bath tub!........seriously looking good!

Trouble is,it dries clear and you can't really see the shape that you've put on. A coat of thin paint then more "stuff" starts to bring it to life........if your'e lucky. Just keep shoving it around till you like what you see.. Takes 2-3 hrs to dry between coats.

What is this "stuff" that you use.?For the sea on the Victory I used plaster on a polystyrene base.

The "stuff" is "Mod Podge Lustre". It's an American product, looks like PVA and is about the same consistency so you can't build it up into waves, more like ripples as you would see on a fine windless day (not many of them in the North Sea). It's really just a case of glooping it on with a brush and hoping it dries lumpy, there is a bit of a knack to it. You can give an impression of depth by putting a few thin coats on then a coat of thin paint then more "stuff"in a thick coat. haven't mastered it yet, it's  only the second time I've used it so I might get better with practice.
Scrub the 2-3 hrs drying time, I put a thick lumpy coat on yesterday and it needs a good 24 hrs although thin coats don't take long. It dries crystal clear, nearly too glossy to look realistic.
Not expensive, between £6 - £7 in the UK. That would do probably 4 bases the size I'm doing  now, if put on 2-3mm thick. I used it on HMS Roberts.

Try Googling it and see what you come up with.

I'm pleased we've stopped that silly conversation regarding wood. It was getting to the point where I couldn't see the wood for trees, in fact, I was seriously thinking of packing a trunk and branching out to form my own splinter group.
