So this bloke I know comes up to me and says " you build models, don`t ya?" So I nod and he says "I`ve got this model car that I got for my birthday 5 years ago, I made a start but I don`t have the patience, skill, time or interest to build it. Would you build it for me?" So I says "give it ère then" and he did. That is how I have come to build a car. Not my thing but nonetheless a model that I hope that I can do some justice to for him. The kit is from revell, and his "start" consisted of messily glueing the two haves of the crankcase together, so not too much damage done there. It is going together ok at the moment and provides a usefull distraction with my curreent fight with the Walruss. Unfortunately there are no decals with this kit......they are stickers yuk! Even the seat belts are awful Stickers. Never mind it`s not for me and I will build it from the box. Engine is just about complete as is the cockpit. Here are some pics, let me know what you think.

It is always interesting to build a model from a different genre to normal, each has its own procedures and quirks.
Things have do be done in a slightly different way.
I am, as you can probably see a bit of a butterfly and attempt to model lots of things.
I use this website now and then, you can see my butterflyness here http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=16298

Hope it may be of some interest to you.
Cheers

thanks for the link, you certainly have diversified over the years. A most impressive portfolio if I may say so.
Here is the progress on the Merc. Now that I have photographed it, I have identified areas that need tidying up somewhat....always something to do eh!

Hi Kiteman,

Wow, that is looking good. I can see that you are a very accomplished modeller Sir!.

I hope my next is always better

Wizzel

Yeah, good work.  Are you finding it easier working at twice the bigness of your normal scale?  It's not my thing either and I doubt if I would have accepted this commission so hats off to you sir.  That seat harness doesn't look anywhere near as bad as you described to me.  It's very realistic as far as the photographs depict it.

If you're half as pleased to hand the finished kit over to him as he is to receive it, he'll be twice as happy as you are!

zak

I can't work out the halves and doubles? I think he will be pleased though.

I think half a double is a quarter, is that a clue to the size?

zak

No half a half is a quarter?
Half a double is one?
Confused!

Kiteman

....not half!!
Thanks for your comments, I will be honestly glad to see the back of it!

Kiteman

So as far as I am concerned it is done apart from a decision from the man as to how he wants it mounted. It was allright but I am in no hurry to build a car again.

Kiteman

here`s a couple of piccies. The body shell fits ok but is just placed on the chassis until I get the decision how he wants to display this thing.
