Hi all this is my completed Tamiya 1/48 Me109E3.
it's the original one that came out in the early 90's I think, I started it at the time then it was put on a shelf and not bothered with, apparently it has some issues with the front end, so Tamiya corrected it.
Painted with a brush, with Xtracolour, Xtracrylic and Aeromaster. Decals by Southern EXPO.
Just for something different.

Nice brush mottling Bob.  It's good when someone isn't afraid to try that by hand.

Grumpy by name and nature

Certainly different from an armoured vehicle Bob.
Looks good.

Have you been on the 'Red Bull' Bob?

Something with 'Wings'

See Tracks and Wheels are not the only modelling subjects you can do well.

I hope my next is always better

I like the mirror base - shows off the model well

Sorry to be misleading but the any way I could the mottling was with a bit of sponge.

Great paint work Bob, we'll turn you from the 'dark side' yet.

then please amend my reply to "nice non-airbrush mottling Bob"

However you did it by hand it's a smashing job.  I have an airbrush but hardly ever use it - too much faff - so have had a go at mottling on my 1/72 Me 262 with thinned paint.  That worked pretty well too.

I think we're too reliant on new-fangled stuff sometimes and forget the old fashioned methods can also be effective.

Hi Bob,
Excellent!
You probably replicated real life as some of the mottled schemes were actually applied by sponge (and rags) dipped in paint!

That's another model for the Battle of Britain SIG display!!!
(If ever we get to put the display on that is!)

It looks really good! I like the idea of using a bit of sponge for the mottle, it's more controllable than toothbrush !

Now then Bob, this is a very fine model of Ofw Illner's 109. I'm impressed .
