long time no type and all that.  I've had to take a day off work to find time to log on and type this..... I keep hoping to become more active but life and DCOS keep getting in the way!

Anyway, who's going to SMW and also, who is going to the dinner on Saturday?

Aye, I know - me included lately! 

Main thing was to get a feel for how popular the dinner was.  It'll be my first SMW and I was trying to decide whether to go to the dinner or have a tin of beans and sausages in my room.

The dinner or "banquet" I think is over-rated, you can get  a nice meal in the restaurant for less money or a bar meal for even less.
By memory.
banquet, £24 for one, two or three courses.
restaurant, £14 for one course, (nice grub), then a bit more for starters or a pudding or both.
bar meal, £10.
These are last years prices, by memory so could be a bit out, but it gives you a feel.

Cheers Haddock.  I had a look at the menu - £24 and I imagine even if the food is tasty, it would be "Masterchef" sized portions with emphasis on drizzles of brown and red, little bits of leaf placed artfully on top etc.  I've been to enough Mess functions to have grown tired of this so it was only really the company I would have gone for anyway.  Guess I shall have plenty of that at the show itself then.

Hi Wizzel,
I am going with Dave S, Andy and Tony as noted.
I'd rather just have the bar meal + pint(or two) or similar with my chums rather than the elongated/drawn out 'dinner'.
Last year we were nearly last table to eat, so I decided then, not for 2019, I'd rather have a bag of chips!!
So join Dave, Tony and I at moment in the bar, and expect some mild mannered and well intentioned banter and abuse!!
