Just to keep Haddock happy - not just one ship but two. Looked in the stash and found these 2 models - first is a 1/700 scale American destroyer, the second looks like a 1/350 scale German destroyer. ( no instructions just the kit )
The American will be run ashore in the Pacific and rusted, the German will be run ashore in Norway and rusted ( have you got the link between them yet ????? )

First job is to add a full hull at the bow for the American destroyer, so she can be sticking up out of the rocks and sand. It will also allow me to use the 1/700 scale superfine rails I have - they drove me mad last model - they bent when you just looked at them funny.

The bows have had several sections of plastic added to them and then sanded down to the correct shape. The third funnel shows as made on the aft funnel and drilled out on the ford one. last shot show more bits and bobs added.

Even more bits added - the small guns have had barrels replaced with brass.

Maybe we could be twins ??????

Onto other matters - just been measuring the second model and looking on the internet - I think it is a Heller Model scale 1/400 German destroyer Z31..
Now does anybody have instructions on the build - do you have one in the loft Zak ????   If not its going to be a put together from photos of the ship on the internet.

Try the Airfix website?
Search for "instructions for heller z31 destroyer" and look under images , lots of pages of instructions there.

The superfine rails added and a coat of hull red all over the ship. Next a couple of coats of hairspray and then the ships grey and black colour scheme to spray on, then start to remove outer colour to show the red.

Waiting for the other ship to dry so put the German Z31 destroyer together.
Haddock will be happy its a rust free, pristine model -- oohhhh sorry Haddock forgot I have just hacked some large holes in the hull and am making it a wreak on the Norway coast  -- hohohoho

You know me Haddock -- I can never just put a kit together  - got to do something to it, even if that is make a mess.

Parts of the accommodation added.

Solid gun barrels added - not bothered about using brass tube because the barrels will be covered outside and inside with rust. Other shots show more bits and bobs and the rails added.

Now that I have finished putting all the rails onto the ship -- thought should have thinned down the top rails, now having to do this in place -- don't tell Haddock he would just say "you should have planned before you started" you plonker.
