Some way through building the Amodel Mil MI6 early version 1/72nd scale.
Like most of the Amodel range (well all the ones I've come into contact with) the plastic is softer than that in the models produced in the west and the far east.
The fuselage walls are therefore quite thick.  That being said it goes together fairly well.
The fuselage for this model comes in six parts.
The first image is a photo of the three sections of fuselage before final assembly.
The second image is a dry fit of the right hand centre and rear sections.

Hi Chris,
Great to see your first post!
An early Mil-6, what a cool subject......
I will follow your build closely, I like helicopters and on seeing some of yours at the club meetings and Our Show, I know there is a lot I can learn from you.
Keep posting matey.
Cheers,
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

saw one in the Riga museum - photos never do it justice about the size - will follow this with interest.
If I remember the photos are on the site under General section and named Riga Air Museum - unless Kevin has taken them down to save space

Just had a look and the photos are still on "General Discussion" page 3 - hope they are of some use.

Thanks for the interest and the photograph references.
I'll post new photographs shortly.

This photo shows the fuselage more or less complete.  It is now just waiting for the wings to be mounted.
As you can see there has been a little filling around the joints - all fairly small.

Will you have a figure with the model to show the scale and how BIG it is ???????

Hope this is useful Martin.

I will tell you which bright shirt I had on and you can do the figure as me - maybe not don't want to frighten people who look at it.
Looking good what colours will it be when finished ???

This is now the finished article.  I made one or two mistakes with the painting but managed to correct them.  In the end it had three coats of the grey overall.  The decals went on very easily.  With Ian Dewar's advice (thanks Ian) I changed the varnish I used over all the fuselage and airbrushed on the Ammo mig matt which went on beautifully (a couple of coats).  This was the first time I'd used the airbrush for varnish.

Hi Chris,
That is a very nice model. I bet it will draw lots of attention when you display it.
A really nice finish, on a very impressive helicopter.
Look forward to seeing it.

Nice model, and a very clean and tidy workbench to boot.
