My "anti-shake " technique is to mount the model on something to hold it steady and in the right attitude, then I use my left hand to steady my right hand. It nearly works!

I use something like the stick they use in oil painting, I call it a ruler.
I have similar problems Ian, masking is quite an art.

Hi Pen Pusher,
Like the others, I agree that the 'rested hand' is the best way to achieve a good result. The art is to as you point out, the limits and intricacies' of your abilities and what you are modelling.
