A model of local interest
« on: June 09, 2017, 08:19:41 AM »
Started a model of the DH Gipsy Moth a last week. It's 1/48th scale by A model, a bit rough around the edges.
Having looked at the construction I decided to build it in sections, this would not only allow for an easier 'air- brushing' job with little masking required but also the individual assemblies such as the cowlings can be cleaned up once assembled. Check that various items, such as the motor, can be inserted afterwards.
I'll bring it along on Wednesday.

Just to bring you up to date. The fuselage has now been painted and the decals applied. These have worked well and are suitable thin and yet dense enough to cover the green paint. I shall now attach the lower wings using a brass spar to give the required strength.

Looks very impressive so far. It was interesting to hear how you tackled the 'dip' in the bottom of the fuselage. I think I would have tried a less adventurist method involving considerable quantities of home made 'goo' and an equally sizable vocabulary!! Look forward to more progress here.
