They will be at the Northern show next week.

Here is the start of airship number2, no name as yet.
The dirigible bit is from a free card download, the gondola is a thick card tube cut in half lengthways and the bow will  be formed from balsa. This may be an airship with some helicopter characteristics, but who knows at this stage.

Well using propellers from the scrap box and plastic tubes of various sizes, the gondola and engine take shape.

There is nothing like a damp, misty horrible East Coast day to encourage model making, so that's what I have done, here are the results.
Wheels are from the spares box.

The two parts together, it just does not look right at the moment, will have to do some serious thinking and see what I can do.
This must have been developed by the RAF experimental works, it has a hydrogen generator as well as a new novel steam engine. (RAF = Royal Airship Factory)

Hi Zak,
I presume the R.A.F. have developed a higher than normal lifting hydrogen by the time of this model, or perhaps it expands under pressure.
A cool looking project, now where is my Bowler Hat and my Metal framed Goggles?
Cheers,
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

zak

Yes, you have it exactly right, welcome to the steampunk (industrial) genre.
A new type of lighter than light hydrogen has been discovered, or maybe they have gone into Cavorite (HG Wells, anti-gravity stuff if memory serves)

Some progress, the jury is still out.

Hi Zak,
Is that your former hairnet being put to a new use in the picture?
Admit it, you don't need it now.
Cheers,
Kevin

If it's of any help to the jury, probably some sort of wires would be more appealing.

Thanks Tony, I think you may be right, I will try to come up with something else.

Perhaps the net over the top then wires connecting it to the gondola thingy?
