Understand I missed this last evening? Sorry, the sunny shores and balmy weather north of the border made demands on my time. (Did see the new HMS Queen Elizabeth 1/1 kit though?)

Not much progress lately due to one thing or another.
However, got some paint on the hull and the wooden main deck in place. Fitting the deck isn't without it's problems. The deck is sandwiched between the plastic deck and the vertical surfaces adjacent to it, the locations for the next part of the assembly are less than 1mm high, so not much to glue to, hence the styrene strips to provide some surface area.
Not a criticism, just an observation but as you would expect, the wood isn't a perfect fit so some careful trimming with a sharp scalpel blade is needed to get it to sit down as it should.

...and you have certainly got it to stick down as it should. Very tidy work as always.

Next phase. The upper deck is fitted and needs it's "planks"

In this instance, the superstructure fits inside the wood, I think the photo's explain it OK.

The wooden decks seem to dominate the way you tackle the build.

The 'planking' seems so much more in scale than some of the others I've seen. Does this one come with the kit?

The "planking" is separate, this set is manufactured by Pontos Model, don't remember who I bought it from but It wasn't all that expensive, less than £15 including postage. It could have been BNA Modelworld, who are in Australia.

Well that's the upper deck "planked". The planks need a bit of trimming to let the superstructure sit down as it should and there's a bit of detail to add before it can go on, looking promising though.

If I were to attempt this it would certainly look very different. More like a sawmill I would say.

All these small brass bits seem to consume vast amounts of time. Hey ho!

If it's not painted, it's not glued in place but these give some idea of what the finished article should look like. Lots of detail to add though.

Really looking good so far. (What else 'wood' I expect?)

I've just found wood 'planking' as a waterslide decal from Andysbmodels on Evilbay. Messaged them and there will be a range of 'ship-scale' sheets in the new year!

Bit more progress, if it's in the picture, it's stuck in place.
