Well, it wasn't really a surprise but I can inform members that a conversion kit for the Airfix Shackleton from Eastern Europe is almost upon us. The first 'tooling' looks good and I am promised a review sample as soon as the final example is ready. This will allow the Mk.1 and T.4 to be modelled and will include the curious gun-babetts that were originally intended for the forward fuselage on the Mark 1. (Now off to put new, wide shelf in den!!!!)

Should I be getting excited?  The Shackleton has always been one of those aircraft that been in my peripheral vision only but having spent time clambering over the wrecked one at Nicosia Airport when I was over there with the UN, I've become a little more taken with it.  I know someone who may be able to provide a wealth of research information but would my modelling skills be up to my expectations?  I may have a go at the Revell one I got a while ago first, straight from the box of course.  We'll have a chat after that about the various types.  Keep that info coming PP :-)

A short film on the forthcoming Revell AEW Shackleton reveals some clever moulding/alternative potential for the future. With the rear and forward fuselage sections moulded separately, one might imagine both sprue can be replaced and include sections to represent both the Mk.1/T.4 and Mk.II variants at some point in the future. Despite the good works achieved at Coventry with their reversed engineered 1/1 scale Shack, it's 1/72 clone from Airfix does on close examination reveal some issues around the bomb-bay doors and interior equipment 'fit'. It will be good to make the final comparison in due course.

Just received two new sets of decals for the new Shackleton kits. Lovely detail and covering some interesting individual aircraft. Just think, you could build all eight!!

Another 'project' for Shacklebomber builders - 'Rosalie' - former gate guardian at St Mawgan.

If anyone is now contemplating the new Revell AEW version - here's a great resource!
