Finally add two torque struts, 4 brake discs and the rear axle sub assembly is ready. Altogether 43 pieces...and that for just the rear axle...wowza! I have build aircraft with less pieces!!

Roger

It looks really interesting, but not a clue what it is I'm afraid!!

MSea

It looks like it could fit into some of my more way out models --  but I have no idea what it is.

Hi Kiteman,
Could it be a more 'modern' eight wheeler, such as a 'Stryker'?
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

Kiteman

Nice try Kev, but not quite.

Kiteman

So, slosh some paint on it, a bit of dry brushing and it is ready to be attached to the chassis when that is ready...

Kiteman

The front axle was much easier...

Kiteman

Front axle and steering gear now on the chassis of this mystery vehicle.

Kiteman

Chassis glossed up, if you look carefully you can see me in the reflection taking the picture...

Hi Kiteman,
Here's another try..........................
Could it be a Mercedes Staff Car of WWII era?
This one is a tough cookie........................
Cheers,
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

Kiteman

Hey, he`s back! yes it is a WW2 Daimler staff car. Getting very close now!!! Well done. Now the question is....which one??

Bigkev

Hi Kiteman,
At the chance of being way off the mark, is it the ICM kit of the Mercedes (Daimler-Benz) TYP G4 (W31) to 1/35th  with optional open cover (WWII German Personnel/Staff Car)
I await a being wrong again.....................
Cheers,
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

Kiteman

Hey....give the man a coconut!!! Superb Kev, Yes it is the ICM Daimler G4 but in 1:24. Amazing, well done that man.

So, after attaining a pristine gloss finish on the chassis I spent a while "chroming up" the tread strips on the running boards and adding the coach lining to the front and rear wings. Having never worked with this metal foil before it was a learning curve for me but after some experiments on bits of scrap plastic I managed to get it onto the model with reasonable success. Pleased with my results I decided to seal the foil onto the model with a thin coat of clear varnish. The chassis was allready varnished and I used the same varnish to seal in the foil. To my shock something ahppened which I didn`t expect and that gutted me to the bone. See the piccies for yourselves. I don`t know why this has happened and perhaps one of you can tell me. All I could do was watch the model getting worse as it dried....now it looks frozen.....WHAT THE HECK HAS HAPPENED HERE!!!!!! It is the same varnish!!!

Roger

Wow that is quite dramatic.  Never seen that before!
