Hi All,

Just a quick reminder that our Annual General Meeting of the club will take place on Wednesday 11th March 2015.

Venue:- Cass Hall, King Street, Driffield
Time:-   8.00pm

An agenda will be published in the newsletter, and there will be Agenda hand outs at the meeting.

Note:- Our club meetings start at 7.30pm, so we will begin the AGM at 8.00pm to allow for any late comers/stragglers

I have asked Dave M to print off 30 copies of the club finances and bring them along to the AGM.

I'll just need the contact details to print off in A3 for members to amend if necessary and that'll be that for the AGM I think.  After that it will be the membership cards for them that have paid their subs.  Int it exciting?

Kiteman

Please accept my excusal for the AGM, ist a bit too far to travel for one night. I have paid my subs though!

zak

Well, Dave paid your subs and what a flimsy excuse - distance?

...and I have paid that scallywag Dave. Yes it is a flimsy excuse, only 5 countries and a bit of water between us!

zak

You could have finished your Gigant and flown over in it by next week!

As a point of discussion for the forthcoming AGM may i suggest some sort of affilliation between our two clubs. The members of our club are impressed with what they see on this Website and you guys have a few keen followers over here. I don`t know if you have had any thoughts in this direction but I feel that some sort of joining would be not only novel but I am sure of no loss to either of us.

zak

I am sure Dave will bring it up at the AGM.

Hi Kiteman,

I'll let Dave M bring it up, but I will make a note of it in A.O.B. just in case.

Think it sounds a good idea.

thanks, (note to self) mention it to scallywag before the AGM.

Wizzel

Scallywag has duly noted this.

I was also wondering about a more serious discussion regarding our club table - we have had some initial ideas I know and I would not wish to see them slowly turn to nothing.  After seeing some of the other stands at Huddersfield (although I've been to OUR show 3 times, I've always been working so not had much chance to notice things) I agree with previous comments that we could do with some improvements.

I understand that money is an important consideration and I personally have no problem at all in giving time, effort and materials to the club if it improves the overall presentation of our stand.  I would not shy away from putting my hand in my pocket to purchase, for example, a piece of toughened glass from our local hardware shop (at a favourable price) which I could have our name and logo sandblasted onto at work that could sit in a stand at the back of the table.  Nor would I mind buying a few bits of MDF which I could cut and make into boxes to either paint or "upholster" with cloth of an agreed colour to sit models on at various levels.

The point here is that although I also pay subs, £12.00 per year is only £1 per month and is, to me, simply for the privilege of being a member.  I enjoy being a member of the club and I feel it is my duty, whether I am part of the committee or not, to help take the club forward and enhance who we are and if that means making donations in some way IN ADDITION TO subs, then it is something I am happy to do.
