I was quite pleased to get this bit built, I'll be even more pleased when the railings are fitted on the platforms, all seven of 'em.

This might seem a bit brutal but I've chucked the water-line plate away and substituted it with evergreen rod. The holes I've hacked in the deck will let me do a lot of the glueing from below, hopefully, giving a nice neat joint between the deck and the superstructure after painting.

Getting close to being able to slosh some paint on.

Here's some nice shots showing the wake pattern at a fairly low speed. I could use these for the sea.

Ha ha, very funny.
To be serious, they are very clear pictures and if the colour reproduction is anything like, I should be able to get some good colour matches using our favourite paint. The deck colour certainly isn't the same as Trumpeter's spec.

Thought I'd better post something just in case you all thought I'd emigrated (some might say I should).
Sloshing paint on up to now has been what might be called " fun ". Vallejo do Model-air pale grey blue and model colour pale blue grey which are distinctly different and not anything like the photo's posted earlier. Trumpeter call for Neutral grey for the decks which they certainly aren't so I settled for field blue, Tamiya field blue is considerably darker than Model colour field blue, Model colour looks a better match although it doesn't look blue enough till it gets a coat of Klear.
I primed the hull with Vallejo grey primer, mixed 50/50 with Vallejo thinners and misted on several coats, about 5 mins between coats to get good coverage. Then I thinned the field blue and sprayed it on. I ended up with a horrible mess, don't really know why other than there is a build up of semi-dry paint in the nozzle of the bottle,I think this is getting into the paint and won't dilute with thinners. The only option was to strip the lot. Mr Muscle shifted the blue but wouldn't touch most of the primer, I eventually shifted it with Vallejo air-brush cleaner, poured on the model and scrubbed with a soft brush.
All this pantomime meant I had almost run out of brush cleaner so an emergency dash to Boyes was in order, while I was there, I had a look to see if there was anything else colour-wise, I spotted some Game-colour " Wolf grey " ( it doesn't look grey to me )purely by accident, it's the best match yet for the hull and vertical surfaces  so that's what I settled for,you can see the results, though not very well, on the enclosed pics.
What you see isn't glued together, just a load of sub-assemblies with a lot more detail to add. Long way to go yet.

Now comes the naughty bit, all those railings look a bit daunting, still, faint heart never won fair lady so I'll just have to get stuck in.
