This is RFA Blue Rover, a small fleet tanker, designed to replenish ships at sea with fuel, fresh water, limited dry cargo and refrigerated stores

If you fancy a 'What if' there's a kit of a Cold War update of the Yamato in 1/700, but if I remember correctly it's a 3 figure kit!! You could always build something yourself?

The top view is for Kevin, to show the relative sizes of the ships.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for including a shot from above showing both together so I can compare the differences between them.
They look very nice and great additions to your growing fleet.
I hope my next is always better

More random bits of plastic and other stuff added.

A balsa chimney? How will you get the plastic to coat it?

I would probably use a talc and superglue mix, then sand it so its as smooth as glass.
I hope my next is always better

Blue Rover, proved to be a struggle to get it anything like, I think my previous model may have been better.

Look here for the previous build

Back to the Falklands after a brief interlude with the Titanic.
This is HMS Bristol D23, a type 82 destroyer, from MT Miniatures.

You get a resin hull with white metal fitting, some etched brass and transfers.

The white metal fittings will require some cleaning up.

This went together really well and is now awaiting undercoating.

Meanwhile, discovering my model of RFA Fort Austin for sale on Ebay has spurred me on to have a go at building this again.
I kept my notes and plan, so that is a start.
As usual the hull will be a balsa core coated in plastic card.
Here are my original plans from around 2008.

I must have written an article about this for the club newsletter, here it is again.

RFA Fort Austin revisited?

I bet this will be better than your first one, all those modelling skills you have honed.  :)

Great! I don't know how you keep going with the micro brass-work.
