Andy's Long Dock

(1/69) > >>

MSea:
Sorting out what to do at the next playday and decided to do this model.
First many many thanks Andy for the Italeri dock, when you gave me it I thought it would be great with the MiniArt set of Soviet Naval Troops that I had in the stash, and a ship alongside - then the trouble started  :-\ :-\  The dock is toooooo wide for my display case, when it has the  ship and dock fitted, so first thing will be to split it length ways and that makes 2 models, then the size is so large think I will have to sort out a lot more figures to go on the dockside. Then it really started what ship to do alongside at 1/35 scale - yes it is going to have to be scratch built, so out with the books and finding one about the correct size.
It could be a G-5 class motor torpedo boat or either a BKA 1124 or BKA 1125 (but have made one of them in the past see web site) - THEN I found that in 1916 the Tsarist government had 9 armoured river gunboats built at Boecker & Co in Reval and some still active at the battle of Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War as the Russian call it. Now as you all know - hohohho - Russian ships are renamed a lot of times and also rebuilt to modernize them over a very long life - so at the moment am trying to follow the time line for the boats and find good building plans.   Before anybody asks the second section of dock with the rail lines is being used for a scratch built American "Zippo" brown water monitor during the Vietnam War - well that the plan at the moment

This looks interesting.

Remember, its not all about size.
