Next try - have found my small drills and drilled out the holes on the end of the spreader arms - its 0.2mm before you ask..
As you can see on the second one its very very easy to break off the ends when drilling, good job I have a few spares. Next job when I have 2 quality ones is to thread he wire through and fix in place -- think its a 50 50 chance of me getting a good job done.

FUN now change that word to ********   have just finished threading 8 wires through the holes in one spreader - NEED coffee
My plans show 6 spreader ariel, that's 12 ends to thread , that's 48 wires, that's 72 holes to thread them through - that's a LOT of coffee and naughty nautical language.  :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Both spreaders are now fitted and sorting out the wires.
Think for the next ones will hold the spreaders in locking tweezers and fasten these down onto the bench, then fit each wire through both spreaders at the same time - see how this goes.

Have you consdered using monofilament rather than wire?
Just a thought.

Don't think I would be able to thread the monofilament through the holes - will try the method I described and see how that goes, but thanks for the suggestion.

Patience Grasshopper. If the coffee doesn't work try Kraken, at least you'd have an excuse then!!
