Korean War Photo Recce Mustang
« on: June 21, 2022, 02:23:24 PM »
I have started the Eduard RF-51K Korean War Mustang.
There are lots of pieces of etched brass in the cockpit, making up most of the radio sets etc.
Closing the fuselage will be interesting!

I think it might be 1/48th.
Whatever it is, it looks good.

It's I/48 scale and I have manage to close the fuselage halves together.
More photos to follow, including the wings and wing to fuselage which are all very tight!

These photos show the fuselage together and the lower wing with the u/c bay in position.

I found that the shape marked with the arrows 'A' just fits into the position marked on the view looking up into the cockpit. It will then fit almost perfectly!

Hi Meremodeller,
Nice work. Looks like Eduard thought a lot in the planning of this kit to make it easy to all line up properly.

Wings on and detail of the wheel well, looking good straight out of the box.

Painting the wings. Trying to replicate the upper surfaces and lower surfaces back to the main spar which were filled and polished smooth before being coated with Aluminium Lacquer.

Hi Meremodeller,

That is looking nice. Nice to see you paying attention to the varying surfaces of 'Silver', most would think that they were all natural metal.
Will look great when finished I am sure.

Hello Big Kev, the fuselage is made up of a patchwork of natural metal panels so there is going to be lots of masking during the application of Alclad. I'm thinking of priming the fuselage with different Alclad primers initially, hoping that the subtle changes will show through.
