It seemed to me that Neil suggested it would be nice to have some Falklands War Models at the May meeting, so as a change from biplanes, I thought, here goes.
As luck would have it Andy had a Falkland War set at the last meeting, he was giving it away, so whats not to like.

I did build one of these in 2009 and this seems to be a much worse model than I remember.
So I tried to look at what I had done then. This involved getting out a really old computer - with a disc drive as I had saved all my notes on a disc. I may subject you to some of that as I progress.

During the Falklands conflict Pucaras were based at BAM Malvinas [Port Stanley], BAM Condor [Goose Green] and also at Santa Cruz and Pebble Island on a grass airstrip. The runway at Port Stanley was not long enough for the FAA Skyhawks or Mirages.
There are captured examples at Duxford and RAF Cosford as well as the North East Aircraft Museum.
The transfers are for A-522, this Pucara was stationed at Port Stanley and was left at the end of the conflict and it is now in the NEAM.
Instructions seem clear and well presented. No details are given in this Falklands pack about the aircraft; a map of the island is included and transfers for all the aircraft.
I have been forewarned that it is very difficult to get this model to sit correctly, it is apparently very tail heavy. Canopy is provided in a separate plastic bag.

Back in 2009 I did have quite a lot of Falklands Stuff, mainly ships in 1/700 scale, quite a lot were scratch built.
These were sold and some went to the IPMS Falkland SIG, others went as far as the USA.
Here is the Pucara as built then.
I do remember cracking the canopy as I sawed it up so it could be modelled in an open position.

I have already done that.
I will bring the folder to the next meeting for you to see.
Here is a sample. The Pucara was on a base being serviced - could have been Goose Green.

Here is the present one under construction.
Unfortunately not enough weight in the nose.

The decals supplied are for A-522, this was one of 60 built at the FMA plant in Cordoba.
On 14.06.1982 this aircraft was at Port Stanley and reported to be in fair but non-flyable condition, It was in the light camouflage scheme and did not have yellow flashes.

It was coming along nicely, I am having paint problems, so this may not get finished, Time will tell.
