New Russian Town
« on: January 13, 2021, 01:37:29 PM »
Reading a magazine article in the new Fantasy Figures International magazine about the "Lost Children of Pripyat" and decided that I would like to try and make a town sign like in the article.
So first thing was to change the name and then use the internet to translate into Russian lettering, then print off and stick onto some MDF. First letter cut out using my piercing saw - only another 5 to go.
Looked in the stash and found this set of Zvezda Russian Spetsnaz, decide they would look OK looking round the sign, might use all 4 or use only 2 and use the other 2 on a different Town sign.

All the letters cut out and a start made on cladding the outside of the plinth with thin acrylic.

Both sides of the plinth now added and clamped till they go solid.
The letters have been cleaned up and had a pin in each one and then primed.

Niceness.  Should be fun watching this come together.

Plaque to go on the front of the plinth - 1949 drawn on - drilled out - filed smooth.
Before you ask the date is the 100th anniversary of Neil's birth in 1849 - YoHoHo

I really do like the worn, old and weathered effect you achieve with everything - especially us lot!  It is very realistic.
