BMW - Sauber F1
« on: December 22, 2020, 08:36:57 PM »
Another shiny model underway. This time it's the Revell 1:24 scale kit of the BMW Sauber F1 car as raced in the 2006 season.

Not much to show for what has been a marathon session. Carbon fibre decaling and foiling of the suspension components although not difficult has been a test of endurance. Lego jigs were used to assemble the nose and tail down force aerofoil elements.

'. . . . shouldn't ask, . . ', why ever not? How else do we learn?

Foiling as referred to is simply applying Bare Metal foil. In this case it is to replicate the heat shields applied to the inner ends of the suspension wishbones closest to the engine exhausts. The heat shields protected the carbon fibre suspension components from the hot exhaust gases.

Its looking great Francis - as I always told the pupils at school the only daft question is the one you don't ask.
I was never afraid to ask questions of the pupils about things they knew more than I did, so they should not be afraid to ask questions of me. BUT even with all this information I gained ,Zak will still say I need lots and lots more - YoHoHo

I think we all ask daft questions from time to time. Well that's how we learn.

I've got some of the Bare Metal foil. I thought it would be ok for
replicating metal armour etc. on plastic figures. I got it years ago
but have never used it!......I think I've got a brain as well..... ?

I was told by a sagacious chap some time ago that the village idiot was an essential member of any community because without such a person how would we recognise the clever folk.

Maybe the reverse is also true.

Added carbon fibre side panels, seat form and harness belts for the cockpit. A bit more progress although there's little  to show for the afternoons work.
