Picked up from where I'd left off after yesterday's small attempt at filling and sanding the body by fitting the wings, tail plane and front canards. Followed by more filling and sanding. In between the main 'skis' were given a coat of red at the front, which was then masked off before they and the front u/c were fitted. Looking at how long it's taken to get to this stage I dread to think what my original model looked like as it would have been the usual case of  'bought in the afternoon and built by teatime'!!!

After masking it's a further coat of primer followed by two coats of Appliance Gloss White. I'm leaving this to cure overnight before moving on to the red (should that be scarlet?) and black areas.

It kept us amused and out of our parents hair.
The films always sopped at a cliff hangar, leaving it for the next week.

Being a lot younger than you lot I can only just remember Four Feather Falls, followed by Stingray, Space Patrol, Fireball XL5 etc. Anyway I digress.
After I started detailing the model I found that Retrokit do a resin cockpit and sidewall insert but I'm glad I did it the 'hard' way as I learnt more. The seat is from the spares box with added scratch-built detail. The decals went on well as you'd expect being from Cartograph with three exceptions. The red stripe in front of the intake is too long, the large A underneath doesn't match the raised lines which show it's position, being too small and lastly there is no decal for the intake at the front of the tail-plane. As can be seen from the final photo the two sides of the tail-plane are not the same so there is a difference in these and finally the exhaust pipe had to be adjusted to fit and OOB is too thick.
Despite all the above I enjoyed making the Interceptor, which is what our hobby is all about.
