It's not nice to make light of any terrible situation - and I'm sure someone will object - but if the people of Cumbria will forgive me, this 'supposed' photo of the Royal Navy rescue team might raise a smile...? Diorama anyone?

On a similar note, I remember an occasion just after taking a big sea aboard which almost destroyed the wheelhouse the skipper casually remarking " it's important to retain ones sense of humour at a time like this".
A bit of a laugh works wonders in times of strife.

My old RAF chum from wet-ops days (unintentional pun) rang me tonight. His house in Keswick was flooded but thankfully (he says) his stash remains dry in the loft. I'm presuming his model stash and not something he might be smoking??

PS You may be interested to note the 'Hull at War' shop has some interesting profiles on WWI battleships in their second hand bin!
