Help / Any Idea Where these come from or are made by??
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:32:15 AM »
[/img]Hi All,

A request from Phil via me, to anybody who reads this, to help to identify the maker/brand of these Sea Vixens Phil came by whilst in the USA. Phil estimates them to being about 1/450th scale?

Any idea's how they came to be. So far we have a Cereal manufacturer promotion, specialist aftermarket products (to go with appropriate Aircraft carriers), DC comic adverts of about 1970's.

So far no definative explanation or identity, given but do you have an answer???

Hi All,
Yes, I would like to say it was a very pleasant day out with some great 'guys'. A lot of fun, banter, great models, and lots to buy, some more than others (not me luv, If my wife reads this).
It was nice to see that my previous demonstrations of how to lay the table coverings had been totally absorbed and after some minor corrections and gentle slapping of Cyril you got there in end.
It was also nice to see how well Cyrils training for the Olympics has come on. He did the trip to the coffee and Bacon Butty shop in record time!
Great Day, Guys.

Help / Re: Vallejo paint
« on: July 14, 2011, 06:38:28 AM »
Hi Bridlufc,
I tend to use just water in my vallejo primer and don't have many problems other than it drying quite quick, (so only put in what you are going to spray at a time). The description of 'Rust' streaks in your paint finish might be due to moisture in airbrush compressor tank itself.
I try and drain off any moisture from the tank about every couple of months. Just need to unscrew the drain plug(normally underneath) and let any moisture out, and leave it open overnight so everything dries up.

As to repainting, yep you might need to rub down and start again, the 'rust' affected paint might lift, but you could chance it if you feel brave enough.

Hey Guys,

I'm still alive!! just a little bit worn out!

Yes, I agree with the others Joe, it looks like our British weather has played tricks on your paint. I found out this to my cost once, thought I had primed properly, mixed properly, but had not counted on hunmididity and warmth when spraying. Lost a lot of paint, had to go back to square one and start again, and sprayed when it was cooler(not cold). and it worked.

For me it was a disaster, but in a way a blessing in disguise, as I do not spray in hot humid conditions anymore.

Good luck chum, pray for cooler dry conditions, mix your paint well, prepare your surface, have the right mix of paint and thinner, then PRAY!

If the modelling Gods answer all will be okay if not, Samaritans can be found at..............

Good luck,

Yesterday (the 16th) I received a message from David Harrison regarding the show to be held on Saturday 28th May.

It just says ' Are you Ok for for the 28th?, set up from 8am til 4pm'

Is anybody able and willing to display on behalf of club, at this late stage. I am unavailable, but have cloths and signs.

Hi All,
Sorry for my non-attendance at the last meeting. Dave is correct, I have had no contact from the Railway Club about their show this year other than it being muted last year that they would hold it probably at the May Bank Holiday in 2011.

I have Not received an invite from them to date, and I now think that it is an unlikely proposition for us to attend as a club with just over two weeks to go.

As a club, I think we should wait to be invited, it is not for us to chase for a place at the show to attend. So unless any members out there are willing to step into the breach, and represent the club if asked to, at short notice, then we should consider it a no-goer this year.

I will post any other information as I get it.

General Discussion / ModelZone Competition Day.
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:47:31 AM »
Hi All,

Just like to say 'Thankyou' to Modelzone for looking after us so well on April 23rd 2011 (Easter Saturday), when we attended and took models along to enter the competition run by them and to do some modelling 'on site' for the public to see. I would also like to thank Andy, Cyril and Paul for making models on the day with me, as well as Adrian, Tony B, Mike, Phil for popping in and showing support.

I think from an entry level point of view the competition was a great success, I believe 18 people entered the competition, with a varied selection of kits entered, Aircraft, Tanks, Ships, Sci-Fi.

Steve and Adam, and all the others looked after us well, providing us with tables, chairs, power supply, unlimited coffee and a great spread at lunchtime of sandwiches, pies, crisps, quiche, orange juice. It was a very pleasant day, being with them and talking to them and getting ideas flowing. Adam is going to forward some pictures of the day to us when he gets time.

It was a pity the weather was 'So Good', unheard of at Easter normally, but it did take away some of the customers who would normally visit St Stephen's on a weekend. On a positive note, it did work quite well, sure there are lessons to be learnt, and in talking with the guys we were able to put some ideas into the equation for next time. (which may be later in year, October time?)

My thanks to all concerned.

Help / Hobbycraft Sopwith Camel 1/32nd 'Le Rhone' or Le Clerget'
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:26:00 AM »
Hi All,

I am trying to find an example of the Hobbycraft Sopwith Camel 'Le Rhone' or 'Le clerget' in 1/32nd scale.

I have checked all the secondhand dealerships I can think of, but they are either 'out of stock' or not stocked at all. Do any of you guys have one in your 'stash' that I could buy off you? or swap?

I understand that this incarnation by Hobbycraft was a revised tooling and much better and accurate than the original tooling, of which I think now is marketed by Academy (which happens to be plentiful). Perhaps somebody can answer that question also?

Thanks in anticipation.
