Mmmmmn.......... Bridlufc,
Now that's a bit of a conundrum.
I need a nights sleep to think it through, but it is difficult for me so far..........
You little devil, you............

Hi Msea,
Thanks for the compliment.
Not sure good enough for SMW, but maybe will spur me onto to make something again for SMW 2018 in this category.
Will post some more pictures as build continues
Cheers,

Hi Zak,
They will be very impressive once completed.
I know they will be an extremely focal diorama.
Well done,
Cheers,

Hi Msea,
I knew you had put that in to fool me (Actually I didn't)
Glad my guess was on target, at least I have SOME appreciation of trawlers and how they operated.
Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Bigkev

Hi All,
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.
Tonight I had a go at the other side, and like Haddock points out it didn't fill me with as much trepidation. Still need to refine my glue type and application, but things went smoother tonight in less than half the time before.
Once attached I have dry run placed in situ the conning tower, deck and small guns, and periscopes.
Can see a problem with small guns as they are too close to the railings and periscope and could not actually be used in real life. I think a little juggling will be necessary to give a better sit/look.
Now need to touch in all the paint work around railings, the railings themselves, and a little additional weathering at the post bases.
Some pictures of it so far,
Cheers,
Bigkev

Hi Zak,
Thanks for that, it is beginning to take shape now, and I have had a go at attaching the railings on the side of the deck tonight.
Haddock makes it look easy, it isn't.........................
After one and a half hours I managed to get one side stuck into place. It is a mix of kit etch parts and some generic stuff Haddock gave me.
He was right about sticking bases of upright rails, that it wouldn't work he was right, several attempts and the swear box a pew pounds richer I decided to use generic for the main rails, and the front and rear parts from the kit etch. You can see that they are 'heavier' in appearance.
Tomorrow, I'll give the other the other side, a little wiser and little practiced now.
Some pictures of my attempt so far.
The conning tower and main gun are only in situ in a few of the pictures for photo purpose only.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Hi All,
Wel lits been a long time since I did anything on this one, but after Southwell and Telford I am suitably encouraged to start again.
The Hull has now been painted, with acrylics and then suitably weathered using Oil Paints.
On close inspection of the photos I have noticed that some of the streaking at the rear of the hull is a little too heavy so will be toned down using a turpentine dampened brush tomorrow night.
Also you can see the deck guns, one of which has had the barrel replaced, as it was moulded a little short on close inspection. A short section of stretched sprue did the trick.
They will be given a coat of gunmetal and a wash before attaching to the model.
Next stage on this build will be to add the deck railings from the kit supplied etched brass.
It is coming together nicely, and I am happy with the result so far.
Some pictures of the above follow,
Cheers,
Bigkev

Hi Msea,
Trawlers are not on my list of familiarity, but could the parts form the basis of the sidewinder winch for the net?
Suppose I'm way off, but I can live with it..............
Cheers,
Bigkev

PS. Nice work that man!

I'm sure it won't be 'quite plain really'
It looks very good even in its unfinished state.

Hi Msea,
Another great example of your modelling skills, I like the Kingspan base for the derelict Trawler especially and you know why.
Your imagination holds no bounds................................unfortunately in some cases (cartoons)!!!
Cheers,
Bigkev
