General Discussion / Website Problems and Issues
« on: December 04, 2013, 06:46:59 PM »
Hi All,

Hopefully you will now realise that the Forum is now working again. It was temporarily put out of action due to Mike trying to sort out the Blog page and intrusions. This is still to be done, but for now the Forum will be the Home/Start page until we can get it fixed properly.

Please bear with us, and we will aim to get a fully operational website accessible to all members as soon as possible.
In the meantime I am asking Mike to send me details of members logging in/user name process so I can assist anybody having difficulties.

PS. I will be emailing all members to confirm its status for those who have not been on website recently

General Discussion / Blog Page Intrusions.
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:58:11 AM »
Hi All,

As you have probably seen someone, somebody has started placing items relating to bodybuilding and health fitness on our Blog page.

I do not know who or why this is happening, but I have asked Mike to close the blog page until we can figure out how to prevent intrusions like this.

I am sorry for all the genuine people who look at the website, but it clearly needs to be removed and then prevented.

Please bear with us, and as soon as Mike is back off his holiday I am sure it will be sorted.

General Discussion / Anniversary Items for 50th year of IPMS
« on: March 15, 2013, 06:10:40 PM »
Hi All,

I have been sent an email from Colin Marrow regarding the possibilty of having  Anniversary clothing to celebrate the 50th year of IPMS being formed, which hopefully would be ready for this years Scale Model World show at Telford. John Tapsell is looking into finding out the feasability of having such merchandise.

I have included it here below so you can read what it was about and more information. Anybody interested at the Club can contact me with idea's quantities, styles etc for me to pass onto him.

You may need to contact me direct via club list, so I can forward/send you Word Doc. with details on it if interested.

"Hi Folks

Firstly, we would like to produce some 50th Anniversary clothing and need
feedback from you and your members, the attached document from John explains
all of the ideas and options. As he explains this is just an Expression of
Interest at this stage so he can gauge the likely demand, you are not
committed to buy. Please get back to John at publicity@ipms-uk.co.uk with
your completed forms, comments and any questions as soon as you can so we
can get moving on this".

General Discussion / Get Well Soon Driffowl!
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:19:02 PM »
Hi All,

Perhaps some of you don't know that Driffowl (Geoff) is a little unwell at the moment. He is due in hospital this week for an operation and will be out of the modelling routine for a little while.

I would like to pass on my own good wishes to Geoff, and I am sure all the other club members would like to do the same, for a speedy recovery after his operation, and to have this well liked and popular modeller of the club back amongst us very soon.

I hope that he get all the attention he deserves from the doctors and nurses for a quick recovery.

GET WELL SOON, GEOFF!

General Discussion / Sad News :- Tommy Atkins
« on: February 04, 2012, 04:49:59 PM »
Dear All,

I have the sad news to inform you that Tommy Atkins passed away on Thursday after suffering a stroke. Tommy was a well respected member of the club, who's knowledge and craftsman skill were of the highest order.
Tommy produced his own range of vac-form kits, metal aircraft kits, as well as masters for both armour and railway models.
He will be sadly missed by those who had the privilage to know him.

Tommys funeral will be held at Octon Crematorium on Wednesday 8th February at 3.00pm.

Our thoughts and condolances go out to his family at this very sad time.

General Discussion / Christmas Quiz Night Thanks
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:55:32 AM »
Hi All,

I would just like to say a big thankyou to all who came to the Club Quiz Night on Monday night.

Thanks to all those who brought raffle prizes, and for buying tickets. All proceeds will be going into club funds to aid future events/expenditure. No doubt Adrian will be able to tell you how much was raised.

I would like to say a paticular thankyou to Andy and Shaz for giving me a lift, setting up the PA system, selling the raffle tickets. Also to Joyce for her comparering during the raffle draw.

Also a big thankyou to Adrian for busily working away taking payments/ giving change on the night.

And finally, an apology to all those present on a couple of 'inaccuracies' in the way a couple of the questions were posed. :-[ On the plus side, the good thing is, it won't be me setting the questions on the next quiz!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Bigkev ;)

General Discussion / Yippee!! its Telford Time Again! ScaleModel World 2011
« on: November 10, 2011, 04:26:03 PM »
Hi All,

Just like to say, I'm really looking forward to Telford this weekend 12/13th November.

I shall be travelling with Roger (thanks Roger!), and meeting up with Mike and Adrian on route. The four of us will visit Cosford before heading to SMW to set up friday night, then out for some food and a pint or two.

Looking forward to seeing John and Janice, Bill, and the ever cheerful Neil Robinson, who can be heard before being seen!
Roll on Saturday morning!

I shall take some pictures and post them on the blog, for those who cannot make it. Putting wallet and credit card in fridge now to prevent overheating this weekend!

Hopefully, will see some of you there,

Hi All and Guests,

Due to an error with the website operating system, We are aware that non-registerd club members and visitors to our website cannot see the photo's that go with articles on the forum.

Perhaps contributors might like to consider putting the pictures on the blog and making reference to them in the text in the article so interested visitors can see what they are describing.

I intend to put all the photo's used in my 'work in progress' articles on the model blog on the completition of each build. Retrospectively, I will put on the pictures of 'Work in Progress 1 and 2'  on the Model Blog tomorrow, for any interested parties.

Our website manager is currently looking at the operating system with a view to allow all visitors to the website access to club forum pictures placed on it by club members.

Hope this helps affected parties to still enjoy the website whilst this glitch is sorted. Many thanks to all who read this.

Modelling Projects / Bigkev's Work in Progress 3 - XB-70 Valkyrie
« on: October 07, 2011, 03:05:13 PM »
Hi All,

Well now the dust has settled from my last project, its time to start the next.

I am going to make another Anigrand Resin kit, this time a Rockwell XB-70 Valkyrie again in 1/144th.

This is a big aircraft even in 1/144th. The kit looks quite easy to assemble (famous last words?) and has a choice of canopies and a very nice decal(transfer) sheet.

Moulded in pale yellow resin and clear resin for canopies. Kit shows much better panel lines than the Beriev ( Progress 1), being sharp, and not too deep. The wings are butt joining along the centre line so a possible weak spot, so I have drilled holes along the mating edges, inserted some brass tube to give rigidity and to aid alignment

Thats it for now,

Have attached some pics, so you can see kit contents, and work on Brass tubes so far.

Modelling Projects / Bigkev's Work in Progress 2 - Avro Anson Mk.1
« on: September 18, 2011, 02:08:34 PM »
Hi All,

Well I'm getting into the swing of things now. To go with my other work in progress, I am putting the finishing touches to a kit I started about 4/5 years ago and it remained hidden away until now.

It is the 'old' Airfix Anson in 1/72nd scale with Aeroclub canopies added. I am finishing it as a pre-war aicraft in Silver Dope with coloured squadron markings. I only wished I had not masked and painted the canopy frames all those years ago, as my masking was pretty shakey..................... oh well. Tried a new variation of 'silver dope' this time. After a white undercoat, I painted it Vallejo Acrylic Games Workshop Chainmail silver, then rubbed it all down smooth, and then a top coat of Alclad II 'Aluminuim. It came out quite nicely I think.

Just need to decal(transfer) the aircraft and add a few bits and bobs together with the new turret canopy and I should be there.

Hope you like the pics of work so far.
