Modelling Projects / Bigkev's Work in Progress 1 - Bartini-Beriev VVA- M14P
« on: September 14, 2011, 02:15:20 PM »
Hi All,

Well at last I'm back in the modelling saddle. Now my op is out of way and life getting back to normal my modelling can again start.

Currently I am working on an Anigrand Resin kit to1/144th scale.

It is a Bartini-Beriev VVA-14M1P, which was a experimental aircraft which was to ultimately led to an anti ship/submarine type using WIG (wing in ground effect).

The model is quite simple to put together, but a few ill fitting parts especially the canopy which is about 3mm short!

After much fettling model is nearing painting and finishing time. I include some pics to show general layout of model, plus one of the cockpit which I am paticuarly pleased with in such a small scale.

Should have it complete by next meeting.

Help / Any Idea Where these come from or are made by??
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:32:15 AM »
[/img]Hi All,

A request from Phil via me, to anybody who reads this, to help to identify the maker/brand of these Sea Vixens Phil came by whilst in the USA. Phil estimates them to being about 1/450th scale?

Any idea's how they came to be. So far we have a Cereal manufacturer promotion, specialist aftermarket products (to go with appropriate Aircraft carriers), DC comic adverts of about 1970's.

So far no definative explanation or identity, given but do you have an answer???

General Discussion / ModelZone Competition Day.
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:47:31 AM »
Hi All,

Just like to say 'Thankyou' to Modelzone for looking after us so well on April 23rd 2011 (Easter Saturday), when we attended and took models along to enter the competition run by them and to do some modelling 'on site' for the public to see. I would also like to thank Andy, Cyril and Paul for making models on the day with me, as well as Adrian, Tony B, Mike, Phil for popping in and showing support.

I think from an entry level point of view the competition was a great success, I believe 18 people entered the competition, with a varied selection of kits entered, Aircraft, Tanks, Ships, Sci-Fi.

Steve and Adam, and all the others looked after us well, providing us with tables, chairs, power supply, unlimited coffee and a great spread at lunchtime of sandwiches, pies, crisps, quiche, orange juice. It was a very pleasant day, being with them and talking to them and getting ideas flowing. Adam is going to forward some pictures of the day to us when he gets time.

It was a pity the weather was 'So Good', unheard of at Easter normally, but it did take away some of the customers who would normally visit St Stephen's on a weekend. On a positive note, it did work quite well, sure there are lessons to be learnt, and in talking with the guys we were able to put some ideas into the equation for next time. (which may be later in year, October time?)

My thanks to all concerned.

Help / Hobbycraft Sopwith Camel 1/32nd 'Le Rhone' or Le Clerget'
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:26:00 AM »
Hi All,

I am trying to find an example of the Hobbycraft Sopwith Camel 'Le Rhone' or 'Le clerget' in 1/32nd scale.

I have checked all the secondhand dealerships I can think of, but they are either 'out of stock' or not stocked at all. Do any of you guys have one in your 'stash' that I could buy off you? or swap?

I understand that this incarnation by Hobbycraft was a revised tooling and much better and accurate than the original tooling, of which I think now is marketed by Academy (which happens to be plentiful). Perhaps somebody can answer that question also?

Thanks in anticipation.

General Discussion / Annual General Meeting 7th March 2011.
« on: March 09, 2011, 06:16:57 AM »
Hi All,

I would just like to say thanks to all who were able to attend the AGM on Monday night. It is always a necessary evil, but I think that a lot of items got disccussed, and new ideas and thoughts brought to the fore.

The input from all, is necessary to maintain the club. Without input we cannot get better at what we do.

Thank you all very much, especially Dave for taking notes for me.

Bigkev  ;)

PS. Next meeting is 4th April 2011, get those kits ready!
