Well Tony it is the mat I use for photos. You should see the one I actually work on.
As for the decals Martin they went on ok. I was very careful with them and used microsol to keep them down.

A pair of Israeli Bell AH-1 Cobras from Hasegawa. I was going to display these at the April meeting but because of the enforced home time (modelling time), I thought I'd post a photo.

This is now the finished article.  I made one or two mistakes with the painting but managed to correct them.  In the end it had three coats of the grey overall.  The decals went on very easily.  With Ian Dewar's advice (thanks Ian) I changed the varnish I used over all the fuselage and airbrushed on the Ammo mig matt which went on beautifully (a couple of coats).  This was the first time I'd used the airbrush for varnish.

This photo shows the fuselage more or less complete.  It is now just waiting for the wings to be mounted.
As you can see there has been a little filling around the joints - all fairly small.

Modelling Projects / Mil MI6 early version
« on: September 14, 2018, 04:56:21 PM »
Some way through building the Amodel Mil MI6 early version 1/72nd scale.
Like most of the Amodel range (well all the ones I've come into contact with) the plastic is softer than that in the models produced in the west and the far east.
The fuselage walls are therefore quite thick.  That being said it goes together fairly well.
The fuselage for this model comes in six parts.
The first image is a photo of the three sections of fuselage before final assembly.
The second image is a dry fit of the right hand centre and rear sections.
