Yes, same problem took ages to dry and collected all sorts of dust and debris while it did so.

Now then Bridlufc,

There are some very tasty schemes for North African and Middle Eastern air forces and I look forward to seeing this one.

I like the look of this so far Kev. I have the cut away Mk XXI some where and your model has got me curious to find it and at least have a peak in the box.

Now then Kev,
There are no 'quality modellers' on this project, just a man in a shed having a bit of fun.

About this distressing, wear and tear, that lived in look or whatever phrase suits you. It seems sensible to me to duplicate what happens in reality rather than applying 'wear' on top of a finish. By undercoating with a metallic finish, in this case 'steel' then applying the service colours over that one can then abrade through the colour coat back to the 'steel' to replicate wear such as scuffing etc. That's the theory, we'll see how it turns out I reality.

A bit more progress today, turret built and fitted after a little bit of filing. Entire vehicle under coated and given a coat of 'steel' for later distressing.

Yes Dave, the very one purchased when I called to see you at Croppers last June.

At last after more than a year out I have started a model in my new workshop. I have been surprised, or maybe not, how my skills have diminished after the extended time out. The model is an Italian Autoblinda AB41 one of Italys more useful vehicles that made a name for itself in North Africa. So far the running gear and hull have gone together with no bother or fit problems.

A thoroughly competent repair which I would have no trouble certifying as airworthy for combat.

On another matter raised way back on page 3hree by Kiteman.
Of course small pieces be they whatever material, but particularly etch will fly off into the wild blue yonder when handled with tweezers as they require tension to hold the piece. Much better to get a pot of tacky wax and apply a small dab to a cocktail stick, piece of sprue or whatever takes your fancy then use the adhesion of the wax to maneuver the part into place. The adhesion of the wax is weaker than glue so does not drag as you remove the waxed holder. With no tension there  is no potential energy to launch delicate bits into the ether. It takes a little time to master but the worst that can happen during the apprenticeship is the wayward part will drop onto your work bench and wait for the next attempt.

Thanks guys. Sorry kiteman not much more for while as I have been sentenced to Archidona for a week or so. There will some serious work on my return as restorative therapy for modelling withdrawal.

Now then Gents and Gentesses,

Progress after a couple of hours on this build during the week. The light tan with silver and white dry brushing on the rear of the chassis is a first attempt at rendering raw fibreglass. I am not totally happy with the look and have a test piece using WEM clear doped linen as the base which looks better but still not quite the answer.

Happy plasticking
Francis
