And now, the decals. There is a bit of story behind these markings as applied to N2522 a 56 Sqn Hurricane.

Well, I splashed it on with 'Gay Abandon' a couple of days ago and here it is. It looks glossy because I'm using Xtracrylics.

Really thought I should update this build now.
The wings are on, they are a very tight and precise fit, only a slight trimming of the internal framework required.
the good news is that NO filler required anywhere.
Now on with the painting.

After a 2 weeks for a Covid break I'm now back a the bench and can update the progress on the Hurricane.
The cockpit 'floor is attached to the centre section of the wings whilst the fuselage halves go together well, trapping the side framework between them.

Time for a new project from me.
I have been singing the praises of 'Arma Hobby' kits based entirely on the fine detailing and completeness of the kits in the box. Now this is the first of their kits I have actually started to build.
Step One. The undercarriage bay and cockpit. After a discussion with a knowledgable neighbour about interior colours of early Hurricanes I decided to make it up!
It's very apparent that like many new CAD designed kits the fit is very tight it is important to follow the instructions and essential to clean up each component of the parting lines and double check the fit as a dry run.
More to follow!

Yes, brush painted over a primer coat of 'Ultimate Primer' grey top surfaces and white undersurfaces.

As you will all know I am slowly working my way through the BoB aircraft types. Building up to date kits from various manufacturers to display along side the best available back in 1968.

I have now just completed the Messerschmit Bf 110 build from the Eduard kit. Very straightforward apart from the overdone etch components which made some areas rather too complex and overscale.

Truly proper modelling. AND you have managed to get another of the 'Museum' Airfix Kits.

Finished the He111 and overall I'm pleased with the kit. Built OOB it's pretty well all you need.
Just one final tip! Attach the fuselage side-windows before assembling the fuselage. They are not an easy fit and it would be better to get them in place then level and polish the fuselage with transparencies in place. A final coat of 'Looks Like Glass' will easily restore the clarity.

The transfers are now on and this takes some time and good eyesight as there are over 100 individual stencil decals and 1/72 scale this is quite something.

Moving on. The camouflage colours have now been hand painted using Xtracrylic, hence the gloss finish. Not the perfect paint for brush painting but 2 thin coats does the trick

Well, back at the bench after a break. I have now reached the moment I was very unsure about. Attaching the cockpit transparencies. After attaching the upper section very carefully I found the other 2 sections joined very precisely. After sorting the correct engine nacelles for the P-2 a coat of grey primer shows very little filling was required and now it should be straight forward from now on. Hopefully?!

Wings are now attached but with hindsight it would have been better to attach the 2 lower wing outer sections and allowed them to be really fixed solid before bringing the top surfaces into position. There is a slight misalignment with my build and I need to level the mating surfaces of the curved fairing from the fuselage onto the wing. I achieved this using the relatively new scrapper tools are available from IPMS.
