I have one of theirs to build in 1/24, it looks a nice kit.
I built a few of these in 1/35 scale during my WW1 period as well.

Quote from: MSea on July 05, 2025, 01:28:40 PMThought it would be ready for the comp on Wed night. Can't live with the gel effect, so its sanding sanding sanding to try and remove as much as possible. Then hope a coat of gloss black and some gloss varnish covers the mess and will also put lots more cotton wool on to cover even more.
You think you have problems Dave when Howard spots a fingerprint, wait till he sees this  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(
Competition is in August, is it not?

It is often wet in Hull, especially Hessle RODE!

Good work, especially with the decals.
There is always something to test us, It never seems straightforward.

Quote from: kiwichappers on June 24, 2025, 09:25:25 PMThis is definitely not a build to rush. Todays progress, crankcase assembled which on the face of it doesn't look like great progress for the time expended. Crankshaft with journals and pistons then added and trued up. Very pleased that the whole lot rotates fairly smoothly given that the castings are several orders below Swiss watch tolerances.
Piston rings?

Quote from: Bigkev on June 23, 2025, 06:56:58 PMThat looks a bit more healthy than the temporary one.
Did it come back from the 4th dimension?
Yes, or the carpet monster decided to regurgitate it.

Just the odd bit to finish now, canopy, crew and aerial.

So what do I take away from this?

Well 1:24 scale aircraft are a tad too large for me to work on comfortably.
I think 1:32 is my limit.
Did I enjoy the build, some of it.

Why did I buy it, well Nathan at Mighty Lancer did me a good deal and I couldn't resist.

The photo shows a comparison of the sizes, 1:24 down to 1:72.

Buy more modern kits, the fit is so much better.

Will I heed my own advice? Time will tell, but I suspect not.

The rear wheel turned up, I just need to replace it.
