Title: MEMBERS MODELLING SPACES.
Post by: Haddock on April 04, 2020, 10:03:32 AM
Hi chaps, just a few shots of the "Brookland Road Shipyard"
As you can see, everything has it's place.
Seen as I was having "visitors" I thought I'd better tidy up.

I've shown you mine, now you show me yours!
Haddock.

Very nice.
As it happens I've been tidying my model room up this afternoon...
... and have come to the conclusion I need a bigger model room!!!

Wheelbarrow principle, no matter how big it is you still fill it.

The workbench -- the spray booth is at the far end so the tube can be put out the window.

So that's where the magic happens.

I am saying nothing - either I will be moderated by Kevin or will be pulled up for the quality or ideas I have for my different models.  Look on the bright side it keeps me away from normal people - hohoho

Hi Msea,
What size straightjacket are you?
I might just buy you an Hawaiian Design item for Christmas.
Cheers,

It's very reassuring to see the clutter you top modellers are able to build amongst.  I though it was just me!

What do you mean clutter - I did a full tidy before the photo !!!!!

They say a tidy desk is the sign of a sick mind.
The clutter is Msea's way of appearing normal....ho,ho,ho

Hi All,
Well, seeing as we've been asked to show the workbench's we use.
Please find pictures of my modelling room.
Its not normally like this, there is generally 'stuff' all over the table top, and bits and pieces drying, awaiting further assembly.

Compared with mine, it looks like an operating theatre.
That probably why Kev's models are so immaculate.

Is it something that might be foiblesque?

Well, it could be
1. A scene from 'Carry on England'
2. An Advert from the selection of 'Pin-Ups promoting Plastic Kits'
3. Foible references
4. Just a 'Wind Up'!!!

Don't worry Bob, mine is always a mess.

Here's mine as is at the moment.  If you're owt like me, after a project I have a massive tidy up and then once I get started, the clutter builds up again - though it's a tidy mess as I can lay my hands on anything I need - less the bits which drop to the carpet of course.  I used to have an extension running at 90 degrees along the wall to the left but I dismantled that a few months back when all it was doing was collecting non-modelling related clutter.  The resulting space has been used to stack boxes of car boot stuff which I WAS hoping to get rid of this year!!

I do have an air brush set up but as I very rarely use it, I keep it tucked away.  The compressor is under the bench behind some useful stuff such as the lamp and a big piece of tree.  If you look carefully, you can just see the pressure gauge.

Very organised.
My problem is that I build two or three models at the same time, so never finish things at the same time - hence my mess - I envy you all your organised work spaces.
Oh well, back to the mess.

Oh well, back to the mess.
If I ever get to your level of output, I imagine I would have the same problem.  I have several projects on the go at once too but generally smaller and easier to work around - or pack away into their boxes until it's their turn again.

Before you ask Zak - yes we have been in the loft sorting out stuff and found a case from her mothers and decided to use this as a table cloth -- very twee don't you think - hohoho.

After seeing the recent posts of 'well maintained' modelling areas I thought I'd show a photo of the man cave in the loft where I've just moved back to after months of modelling in the conservatory and garden. Organised chaos doesn't begin to describe it.

It’s not that bad, as long as you know where everything is that’s all that matters, when I tidy up I end up losing things.

Same here Bob. I used the 6ft rule for the photo so it's more untidy than it looks although I had hoovered the floor whilst I was also tidying Tracy's part of upstairs. I'm forever getting dust on the Klear I use so thought it was time for a tidy up. Memo to self 'a hoover WILL lift aerials off models!!!!'.

I use a make-up brush for the actual models. A hoover does not come anywhere near.

Ah, I dream of a room like that. I had to get rid of most of my display cabinets when we moved, luckily they were from 2nd hand shops/auction houses so no great loss (?). I now have just the one in the front bedroom and everything else is in boxes in the first shed. I drew the line though at putting my reference books outside but still had to concede two shelves to Tracy :( The things we do for a quiet life, lol!!!!
