Title: Cass Hall
Post by: MSea on September 28, 2018, 01:06:17 PM
This is a long term project - to be in next years model of the year competition -  and I hope to also get it finished in time for our show to amuse the visitors from other clubs.
Needed some skeletons - seen some in Mighty Lancer 3 for £4 - so keeping with the club motto "its got to be cheap" decided to try and make some. If they are not up to standard will get the ones from Mighty Lancer.
Now who shall it be ?????

Is this going to be a club meeting, or is it for Halloween?

Is this going to be a club meeting, or is it for Halloween?

The cave for the model made from insulation blocks. Some plaster rocks made and fitted to the blocks and some more filler then added to bed them in and make the surface uneven.
To give colour some ordinary and green tea leaves added to the surface and some "countryside scenics" No 19 rough pasture added to give a variation in colour.

Hi Msea,
With trepidation could it be a Committee Member...……
What about 'Neilus the Horrible', or 'Davus the Tightfisted'
Cheers,
Bigkev

I like both the names so will make sure I have 2 skeletons -- you can name them - I don't wish to get into any more trouble ???!!!!????

Watch out for "Davus the Tightfisted" especially after he sees his picture on Wed night.

Thought I would have to convert some of the spare figures I have into standing figures, they are the club members walking into the cave.
Found the Zvezda figures at half price in Monksbar Models so that has saved me some work.

The standing figures put together - leggings changed to trousers and extra bags etc removed. The mine detection equipment removed but decided to leave the axe ( hope they don't bring an axe to our club meeting, they might not like the MSea powerpoints.)
On the left of the model will be the area for the models and modelers who do not pass the test ( just for Bill/Neil?Kevin all the failed models are planes )

Hi Msea,
Are you still eating the last of this year's magic mushroom's?
Should I wear my body armour on Wednesday night, or better still my running shoe's.
In trepidation……..

As the joke goes - you don't have to be able to outrun a bear, just be able to run faster than the other person with you !!!!
Just to add to your trepidation - the skulls now added to the groundwork.

Martin the Meek
Kev the Creature( from the Black Lagoon)

Be very afraid Martin, very afraid!

The axe man cometh - no answer to that.
Some colour on the cage and then removed, to give an old and decrepit look ( yes Zak - just like me. )

This is what happens when you spend too much time working with etched brass!!

I agree Haddock.
Another failed plane to go on the heap of rejected models outside the cave.

Just saved from a disaster - "she who must be obeyed" said when I was showing her the box with "B" on it for John bringing in the biscuits - he should have shinnnneeeeeeyyyyy shoes as he always has - so it was out with the gloss black and another disaster avoided ( the rivet counters would have had a great time pointing this mistake out ) now what colour is Johns hair and eyes ?????

The select few entering Cass Hall, with biscuits and the many who failed !!!!!
More skeletons to make and new skull for the one in the picture, to be carved from square plastic rod. Then to work on the people waiting to take the test.

Some work done on the new skull - still a bit happy I think - I will get him to come to a committee meeting that should wipe the smile off his face/skull !!!!!

Decided before I put him through the torture of a committee meeting would try and open up the area behind his teeth - see if this takes the smile off his face.

Earthquake felt in Walkington - not really just a clumsy modeler who dropped something while move models around in his room.
One of the skulls has come loose and some bits and bobs damaged  -- worst thing is John has disappeared with all his biscuits.

Now that the language has stopped - back to this model. Decided that with the damage to the back and sides of the model, have made a box to put it in and cover up the bad damage.
DON'T WOOOOORRRRRYYYYYYY -- i have found the model of John and his biscuits , so we will not starve -- hohoho
Next job is to do the figures waiting to take the test.

Figures waiting for the test done and a table made for them as well - and NO before you ask they are NOT getting a chair each.
