Hello friends, here I am again.
First, I want to show you how I paint the first time a flat figure with oil paints.

I always look at flats and wonder how the painters achieve the 3D effect.

Hello friends, I am also happy to be back.
Thank you all.

The skin is with burnt sienna 5% and turpentine 95% brushed
it will dry for a few minutes
Then, with turpentine, wipe the raised areas
( Oh man I hope the program translates correctly)

With skin color, the skin is brushed and dabbed with the other color.
The highlights are set with white

The helmet is painted black.
Then brushed in iron color.
With white, gold the highlights are set.

Now the most important, the eyes.
With black the inside of the eye, white the eyeball
Blue and black the pupil and finally a point of light with white.
Make another eyepatch and Odin is ready for Walhalla

Perfect explanation Oli.
Great to see just how you achieve such a great finish, a lesson to be learnt to all of us, aeroplane, ship, and military modellers. The techniques will surely be able to be used whatever the genre.
